Always remember the contribution of your Gurus, just as you remember your parents. Convocation is not only about going for higher studies or jobs, it is about stepping into life itself, said Mr. Vinayak Hegde, Vice President and Head, Infosys, Mysuru.
He was addressing the fresh graduates at the 15th Graduation Day of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, on Sunday, August 24, 2025. He told the graduates that their degree is not the end, but the beginning of new responsibilities — to live with integrity, fairness, and excellence. He defined LIFE as Leadership, Integrity, Fairness, and Excellence. He urged students to dream big, embrace resilience as much as achievement, and remain lifelong learners who stay open to ideas, value teamwork, and choose the right company of peers. Stressing that “if you chase perfection, excellence will follow,” he concluded with the timeless reminder, “Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi,” calling upon graduates to serve their motherland with pride and dedication.
Sampoojya Swami Poornamritananda Puri, General Secretary of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, in his benedictory address, reminded the graduates that true strength lies in harmonizing the three divine powers — Iccha Shakti (determination), Jnana Shakti (knowledge), and Kriya Shakti (action). He emphasized that information alone is never enough; it must lead to inner transformation. Drawing from the Gurukula tradition, he underlined that education is meant to shape personalities and instill values, not just provide academic knowledge, and added that true wisdom brings humility — the more one learns, the more humble one should become. He further highlighted the importance of balancing IQ, EQ, and social quotient for holistic success in both personal and professional life. Citing the Bhagavad Gita, he explained the “inner war” every individual faces and the need for awareness to overcome ignorance, reminding that a super-conscious state is possible only through purity of heart. Stressing that “personalities are more important than degrees,” Swami urged the graduates to embody Amrita’s value-based education, blessed by Amma’s grace, and to walk forward as compassionate, responsible leaders.
Dr. P. Ajith Kumar, Registrar of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, shared Amma’s vision that all research and education must be rooted in compassion and directed toward serving society. He conveyed Amma’s three key lessons for graduates: to see work as worship, to cultivate resilience and equanimity by accepting success and failure alike, and to lead with compassion in every sphere of life. He reminded the graduates that a degree is not merely recognition of knowledge, but a responsibility to use that knowledge wisely and selflessly, adding, “Each challenge is a lesson shaping your character. Knowledge in action and compassion in spirit will help you make a real difference.”
A total of 661 students (Ph.D., UG, and PG) received their degrees during the graduation ceremony, including 61 rank holders and medal winners, with 13 gold and 12 silver medals awarded.
Dr. P. Krishnakumar, Controller of Examinations, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham; Br. Anantaananda Chaitanya, Director, Mysuru Campus; Br. Muktidamrta Chaitanya, Correspondent, Mysuru Campus; Dr. Shekar Babu, Associate Dean, Mysuru Campus; Dr. G. Ravindranath, Principal, Mysuru Campus, and others were present on the occasion.
