Inter-disciplinary research at the School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus (ASE-C) on the topic, “An Investigation on the Impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Deployment for Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Development of an Assessment Framework” was showcased in the October 2019 issue of Dream 2047 bi-lingual Science magazine published by Vigyan Prasar (VP), the science communication arm of Department of Science & Technology (DST) of Government of India. This research is being carried out at ASE-C by Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, under the guidance of Dr. S. P. Anbuudayasankar, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus.
The Dream 2047 October 2019 issue featured this research as part of the cover story article, “Industry 4.0: The Fourth Wave of the Industrial Revolution” authored by Prof. Prashant. This article provides an overview of the cutting-edge ICT building blocks for Industry 4.0 and also stresses the relevance of this inter-disciplinary research. The research is supported by industry associations and professional bodies such as Institute for Supply Chain Management (ISM), Indian Institute for Materials Management (IIMM), MSME Development Institute (DI), Coimbatore District Small and Medium Scale Industries Association (CODISSIA), Computer Society of India (CSI) and Coimbatore Management Association (CMA).
The principal objective of VP is to serve India’s science popularization agenda by strategically important initiatives such as: science & technology programs on 17 television channels, weekly science news program Science monitor, publication of science books and magazines, as well as National Science Festival of India, etc. VP has been publishing Dream 2047 with a circulation of 35,000+, since 1998.
