Strengthening Learning Through Timely Observation and Follow-Up

Amrita CREATE Monitors Accelerated Learning Program at Amrita Vidyalayam, Kozhikode

Amrita CREATE conducted a school visit at Amrita Vidyalayam, Kozhikode, on 10 September 2026 to review the classroom implementation of the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP). The visit focused on classroom flow, student participation, use of ALP resources, learning activities and assessment-related practices.

The observation provided an opportunity to see the programme in practice across LKG, UKG and Class 1. The classroom environment incorporated circle time, phonics and activity-based learning, with students engaging with different components of the ALP approach. Picture-book reading and English communication activities were also among the practices observed during the visit.

A central focus of the programme is to make learning active and engaging for young children. Teachers facilitate this process by guiding students through learning activities, encouraging participation, using programme resources effectively and supporting students according to their learning needs.

The school visit also highlighted the importance of well-maintained learning routines. In an activity-based programme, classroom flow determines how effectively students move from one learning experience to another. Consistent use of phonics activities, learning centres, reading resources and classroom materials helps create a structured environment in which students can practise language skills regularly.

Timely monitoring plays an important role in maintaining this consistency. Classroom observations allow programme teams to understand how activities are being implemented and whether the available resources are being used in ways that support the intended learning outcomes. Follow-up can then focus on strengthening classroom practices and supporting teachers in their ongoing responsibilities.

The monitoring process also reinforces the importance of regular review of student work and learning activities. Timely feedback and follow-up allow teachers to address emerging learning needs and provide additional opportunities for students to practise foundational skills such as letter recognition, phonics, reading, comprehension, speaking and writing.
