Requirement:
  • A basic degree in Orthopaedic surgery(MS/DNB)
  • Surgeons with in intrest in lower limb arthroplasty
  • Registered with the National Medical Council
  • Minimum 3 year post MS/DNB experience
How To Apply:
  • The applicant must complete the application form and include their current Curriculum Vitae along with at least two letters of recommendation from HOD/seniors with whom they have worked.
  • Additionally, any peer-reviewed publications authored by the applicant should be attached.
  • Selection will be based solely on merit.
  • All applicants for the fellowship program will be required to attend an interview with the selection panel at a scheduled time. After all interviews have been conducted, the chosen candidate will be notified via email or phone.

The Fellowship Programme

Research Activity:
  • During their fellowship, all trainees will be assigned a research topic related to hip or knee arthroplasty. Fellows are required to complete at least one research project that is suitable for presentation at a national or international conference and for subsequent publication. This is a mandatory requirement for obtaining the completion certificate.

Clinical Work
  • This fellowship offers an excellent opportunity for emerging orthopaedic surgeons to receive specialized training in arthroplasty and orthopaedics. Fellows will gain experience with a broad range of joint replacement surgeries, including primary hip and knee replacements, unicondylar knee replacements, hip preservation surgeries, revision replacements, as well as robotic-assisted knee and hip surgeries. The clinical and research activities will be distributed across both branches over the course of one year.
  • Fellows should anticipate spending three days a week in the operating room, with the remaining days dedicated to outpatient clinics, research activities, on-call duties, and health camps. Clinical responsibilities will include documentation, dressings, discharge summaries, record-keeping for pre-op and post-op patients, X-ray evaluations, and gait assessments.
  • In addition to arthroplasty work, fellows are expected to participate in non-arthroplasty procedures, such as trauma, sports medicine, orthopaedic oncology, and limb reconstruction surgeries, as needed.
  • The surgical training is structured to ensure that by the end of the third month, the fellow will have comprehensive training in surgical approaches and instrumentation.
  • By the end of the sixth month, the fellow will be proficient in joint exposure and saw handling.
  • From months six to twelve, the fellow will be expected to perform all surgical steps under supervision, balancing their surgical duties with research commitments.

Academic Programme:

  • Fellows are expected to present journal clubs, seminars, interesting case presentations, Pre and Post OP Xray Discussions once a week.
  • Attend Weekly Orthopaedic Department meet.
  • Grand Rounds – Will be conducted once in two months which allows our Fellows to interact with stalwarts in the field of arthroplasty at National and International level.
  • Fellows are expected to present papers, interesting case reports, posters, at National and International conferences.

Fellowship completion exit exam

  • At the conclusion of the fellowship, fellows will be evaluated through an exit exam, which includes both a written component and a viva (oral exam), to determine their eligibility for the fellowship completion certificate.
  • A university certificate with one year experience will be provided
  • (no certificate will be provided for fellowships left in between)
