Dr. Prashant R. Nair, Deputy Registrar, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, has been elected to the following leadership positions in international and national professional bodies:
- Chairman of the IEEE Podhigai subsection for the term 2026-2027. This subsection, under the IEEE Madras Section, has jurisdiction over the southern and western parts of the state of Tamil Nadu. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest technical professional organization, with 500,000+ members dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
- Chairman of the ACM Coimbatore professional chapter for 2026-2027. This is his second term in the position. As the world’s largest computing society with 100,000+ members, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) strengthens the profession’s collective voice through strong leadership, promotion of the highest standards, and recognition of technical excellence.
- Chairman of the IETE Coimbatore center for the term 2026-2028. Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is a national apex professional body of Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Science, and IT Professionals in India with 1,25,000+ members.
At a regional level, this is a unique achievement in terms of professional body leadership positions. For the last 15 years, Dr. Prashant has promoted strong engagement of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham with these professional bodies, resulting in significant sponsorship and organization of conferences, workshops, hackathons, demo days, techfest, etc., for various schools and departments of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus.
