Aims and Objectives

General

To bring out well trained prosthodontists with adequate knowledge and technical skills to diagnose, treat and after care for patients requiring services of Maxillofacial Prosthetics & dental oncology and develop higher standards of clinical practice.

Specific
  • To provide advanced training in the diagnosis and supportive treatment of patients with maxillofacial anomalies.
  • Gain an understanding of how to appropriately interact with providers in other health science disciplines to plan and execute plans for rehabilitation of patients with congenital and acquired defects of mandible, maxilla, and facial areas.
  • Achieve in-depth understanding of hospital-based dentistry and dental oncology
  • Residents will have the opportunity to treat patients with severe oral and facial deformities from cancer, trauma, or congenital malformations. Training is enhanced by a modern and well-equipped facility.
  • Required course are presented in various phases of maxillofacial rehabilitation, including speech pathology, speech therapy, restoration of congenital and developmental defects, and restoration of various acquired maxillofacial defects.
  • Gain an understanding of virtual designing, planning and printing for craniofacial and reconstructive surgery.
  • Clinical training includes cleft palate prosthodontics and naso alveolar molding devices in children
  • Achieve in depth understanding of implant prosthodontics.
  • Residents are also afforded the opportunity to work with radiotherapists and evaluate and maintain the oral and dental health of patients before, during, and after their radiation therapy.
  • Residents work closely with surgical disciplines in restoring a variety of craniofacial prosthetics including construction of cranial and soft tissue implants, surgical obturators, surgical splints, Acrylic and silicone conventional and osseo integrated prostheses.
  • Gain an understanding of splint therapy & occlusal correction in internal derangement of TMJ.
