Abstract : In this paper, a general method of estimation has been proposed to estimate the combined effect of measurement error and non-response in the estimation of population mean using auxiliary information in simple random sampling. The expressions of mean square errors of the proposed estimators have been derived under large sampling approximation. Mean squared errors of the proposed class of estimators have been compared with the existing corresponding estimators based on the measurement error and non-response, and are found to be more efficient. It is also shown that the estimators envisaged by others are a particular member of the proposed class of estimators. In the end, a simulation study has been carried out to verify the superiority of the proposed estimators. Both theoretical and empirical findings are encouraging and support the soundness of the present study.
