Abstract : With the rapid development of sensors in recent decades, the sensors based on piezo-resistance and triboelectric effect have attracted attention for their great advantages and in numerous applications. When material changes its strain, it undergoes a piezoresistive effect, which causes a change in its resistivity. And when two materials come into contact, charge transfer occurs between them as a result of triboelectrification and the materials become electrically charged. Piezoresistive sensors have created a lot of interest in the industry due to their rapid expansion in wearable electronics applications. Based on the triboelectric effect, developed a new category of nanogenerators known as Triboelectric nanogenerators, has shown numerous applications with great efficiency and outstanding characteristics as sensors and energy harvesting devices. The various applications of TENG as sensors along with their advantages and various ways of enhancing its output performance are discussed in this review.
