Abstract : A single-phase Cascaded H-bridge eleven level inverter for grid-connected photovoltaic system using selective harmonic elimination technique has been presented in this paper. Elimination of total harmonic distortion in multilevel inverters using particle swarm optimization algorithm has been developed and simulated using MATLAB. The performance of the inverter was found to be better when the selective harmonic elimination technique has been considered. The harmonic spectrum and output waveforms for various load conditions have been obtained for SHE-PWM technique. The proposed approach is expected to provide low total harmonic distortion at the inverter output voltage and higher fundamental RMS output voltage when compared with conventional controllers.
