Abstract : A monopole antenna for multiband advanced wireless services is presented in this paper. Initially a single band antenna for 2.45 GHz is designed with Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) fed and loop ground plane. A peak gain of 3.55 dBi is observed for this configuration. Defects are introduced in the loop ground plane with the aim of obtaining dual frequency bands. Footprint of the antenna consumes same area for single and dual band configurations. The antenna characteristics - reflection and radiation properties are investigated and optimized using ANSYS HFSS. Prototype of the optimized antenna is analyzed using Vector Network Analyzer Keysight E 5080 A
