Abstract : This paper presents the design of microstrip band-stop filter (BSF) on Silicon platform by implementing elliptical ring resonator (ERR) in the ground plane of coplanar strips. The designed elliptical ring resonator filter is compact with good reflection and transmission characteristics over a wide band. The coplanar strip ERR BSF can be fabricated using the CMOS process flow without any additional steps, thus making it cost-effective in fabrication. The design of a double-ring ERR filter, without an increase in the area is also presented in the paper. Further, the analysis of the designed ERR filter is done by geometrical variations and its effect in the transmission characteristics and frequency is studied. © Research India Publications.
