Abstract : A meteorological satellite is an artificial satellite designed to monitor various weather conditions worldwide. A significant problem, satellite enthusiasts encounter is the lack of immediate access to real-time weather satellite imagery. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has launched a collection of satellites dedicated to weather monitoring to address this concern. The NOAA 15, NOAA 18, and NOAA 19 are some weather satellites offering free and readily available weather data that can be accessed from any global location. This paper presents the design and implementation of a monopole antenna for receiving NOAA weather satellite images. The proposed antenna is designed, simulated, and fabricated. The antenna’s resonant frequency is between 137 and 138 MHz, which NOAA weather satellites use for transmitting the signals. Antenna and SDR dongle are used to record the signal, and the software used in this process are HDSDR, Orbitron, and WXtoImg. The results show that the designed monopole antenna can receive NOAA weather satellite images.
