Abstract : Halloysite as a template and iron oxide (FO)-functionalized graphitic carbon nitride (GCN) as the precursor were utilized to synthesize halloysite/FO-GCN nanocomposites via a hydrothermal reaction. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis were employed to study the structural, morphological, and elemental composition of the halloysite/FO-GCN nanocomposites, respectively. The results showed the thickness of the halloysite and morphological and elemental changes in halloysite/FO-GCN nanocomposites, respectively. The electrochemical properties of pristine halloysite and halloysite/FO-GCN nanocomposites were compared to determine electrode selectivity. Indium-tin-oxide polyterephthalate (ITO-PET) is used as a substrate for carrying out the electrochemical experiments. In electroanalysis, a potentiometric technique called cyclic voltammetry (CV) has been utilized to analyze the properties of pristine halloysite and halloysite/FO-GCN nanocomposites, respectively. Halloysite/FO-GCN/ITO-PET produced a maximum peak current (Ip = 187.29 µA) and electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) of 0.2409 cm2, respectively, compared to the bare ITO-PET (0.2285 cm2) and halloysite/ITO-PET (0.1866 cm2). Moreover, halloysite/FO-GCN nanocomposites could be utilized in the development of flexible electrochemical devices due to their sustainability and eco-friendly nature.
