Abstract : The paper deals with energy conversion efficiency of commercial models of ceiling fan. The investigation and the following analysis show that in the tested samples, notwithstanding that the minimum performance standards suggested by BIS are satisfied, the matching between the motor and the rotor blades is not optimal and so there is scope for improving fan system efficacy through design modifications. The paper presents the test results and suggests energy efficient system design.
