Abstract : Digital images security is very important in areas like medical diagnosis, financial transactions and in communication. Conventional methods of text encryption can not be applied to images because of the large amount of data and the correlation between adjacent pixels. In this study, a state-of-the-art image encryption system is proposed by combining chaotic sequences, bitwise XOR diffusion, row-column scrambling and block-based bit shift transform. Chaotic sequence generated using system of differential equations further improves randomness and reduces pixel correlation. The performance is measured based on NPCR, UACI, PSNR, and MSE metrics, and the experimental results show the NPCR values of more than 99% and the UACI values of 33%, which show the robustness against attacks. The proposed method stands out as a secure and effective solution to image encryption application.
