Abstract : A non-invasive and portable device for stroke detection is proposed in this paper. A planar microwave sensor is designed at 2.4GHz ISM band on roger substrate with copper as conducting material. The microwave sensor is replicated and embedded on both sides of the cervical collar of the human neck along with an electronic control unit. A brain stroke can be diagnosed by the gradual deposition of plague in the carotid artery. The blood flow in the carotid artery should be monitored continuously by employing the proposed microwave sensor. The shift in frequencies aids in classifying the healthy carotid artery from the diseased one. The proposed sensor operates at S-band frequencies with Specific Absorption Rate value within FCC limits. The proposed device used is immune to inflammation.
