Abstract : This chapter presents a comprehensive examination of the utilisation of inorganic nanomaterials in drug delivery systems. It delves into the diverse array of inorganic nanomaterials, including metallic nanoparticles and quantum dots, elucidating their distinct physicochemical properties that render them advantageous for drug delivery applications. The chapter meticulously explores the synthesis methodologies, surface modifications, and functionalisation strategies employed to increase the efficacy and target of drugs using these nanomaterials. Moreover, it scrutinises their therapeutic potential in combating various ailments, such as cancer and infectious diseases, while also addressing the current challenges and future directions in this burgeoning field of research.
