Abstract : The parametric analysis of inter-combed photoconductive antenna (IcPCA) has been explored for the efficient terahertz (THz) generation and detection. A comparison of structural parameters has been analyzed in terms of the total photocurrent, THz radiated power and optical to THz conversion efficiency which is very useful in practical experiments like imaging, spectroscopy and communication applications. As the geometry of the antenna also plays a major role, the innovative inter-combed structure has been used to increase the radiation efficiency of PCA. The proposed IcPCA design provides high THz photocurrent compared to the conventional dipole photoconductive antenna. There are many input parameters such as laser repetition rate, laser pulse duration, bias voltage, carrier lifetime which also affects the power and efficiency of PCA. Moreover, the simulation on IcPCA shows better performance of three orders of magnitude higher than any other conventional dipole PCA. The design, simulation and optimization of IcPCA is an absolute need for efficient THz source and detection which is the key component of future generation (beyond 5G and 6G) communication system.
