Abstract : In this paper a dual band 2x2 MIMO antenna is designed for 27 GHz/37 GHz millimeter wave applications. Two different design methods were adapted on the conventional microstrip patch antenna design to obtain dual operating bands. The 27 GHz and 37 GHz bands are much suitable for operating in the upcoming n256, n257 and n260 bands in India. The first design in this work is a conventional rectangular microstrip patch antenna with rectangular cuts at the top edge of the patch along the width. The second design is obtained by incorporating rectangular slots at the center of the patch. The performance of both are compared and the since the second design is proven to be better. Hence the second design is used for designing 2 x 2 MIMO antenna. This MIMO antenna shows better performance in terms of gain, reflection coefficient and size.
