Abstract : Aluminum based Metal Matrix Composites(AMCs) have greater utilization in various fields like aerospace, automobile, construction equipment, owing to their versatilemechanical properties like ductility, strength to weight ratio. The various reinforcing materials for these composites are silicon carbide, E-glass, aluminum oxide and graphite in the form of particles, fibers or whiskers. Particle reinforced composites have a better plastic forming capability than that of the whisker or fiber reinforced ones. The paper is aimed to evaluate the machinability characteristics of E-glass and Silicon Carbide reinforced Al2618 Hybrid composite by turning operation based on the parameters like cutting forces, power consumption, hardness, cutting speed depth of cut. The composites are prepared using the liquid metallurgy technique. The two samples prepared have the following compositions:
