Abstract : Electrospinning is a unique, most powerful, and versatile technique used to produce Nano fiber structures. The Nano fibers, produced from polymeric solution subjected to high voltage, have a wide morphology, porosity, and tunable mechanical properties. Apart from producing polymeric Nano fibers alone, incorporation of nanoparticles into the fiber so as to improve the properties of both organic polymers and the special functionality of inorganic nanoparticles have also gained much attention. This chapter includes the overview of electrospinning technique and recent developments in polymeric and functionalization of electrospinning coating on medical implantable devices, especially for orthopedic applications.
