Abstract : A convenient and rapid method for the synthesis of benzylidene-fluorene from aromatic aldehydes and fluorene in presence of 1, 8-diazobicyclo [5,4,0] undec-7-ene (DBU) as an organic catalyst at room temperature giving good yields, short reaction time and easy isolation. Fluorene based π-conjugated organic compounds have found dominant usance that bring about them deserved entrant for utilizations in organic optoelectronic devices and chemical sensors. The report high points an approach to synthesize these materials and to study the photophysical properties
