Abstract : In this paper, the aim is to analyze theoretically the field stress inside the power cable XLPE insulation. For this purpose, a 2D model of XLPE power cable is modelled using COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software. The degradation of XLPE insulation is mainly influenced by maximum stress near to the void/cavity present. The field distribution in turn depends upon the void location, void size, and void material. In order to restrict the mechanism of degradation process and to enhance the XLPE insulation strength, suitable nano fillers are added with optimum weight percentage. Two different type of nano fillers were added into the XLPE model based on calculated Interparticle distance. It is found that the volume of enhanced field at the interface of nano fillers is based on permittivity of the fillers.
