Abstract : India, with its population of 1.3 billion people, now has 5% of its population living in extreme poverty, according to the World Poverty Clock. This is one of the indicators that exhibit the decline in income generating opportunities especially in rural India. This paper describes the role of technology in developing sustainable income generation opportunities in the village of Moti Borvai, in Gujarat. This was done by incorporating PRA and human centric design concepts to understand the perceptions and requirements of the village as well as aiding to come up with a suitable technological intervention. Using these tools, the need for income generating opportunities in the village was substantiated and is discussed in detail in this paper. An integrated technology is devised which effectively utilizes the resources available in the village.
