Abstract : The article is aimed to explore the futuristic potential of uncertainty quantification (UQ) as an essential course in engineering studies in the curriculum of undergraduate studies. In this context, a brief review is carried out to reveal the immense growing interest in the field of uncertainty analysis. Based on this, the essential topics to be covered as part of the uncertainty quantification course are discussed. The specific engineering domains are also highlighted wherein uncertainty analysis is observed to be essential in the academic, research, and industrial arena. With the recent accelerated interest of the scientific research community in the area of uncertainty quantification, it is essential to include UQ as a course for learning, comprehending, and analyzing the foundational understanding in undergraduate courses of engineering and technology. The rationale-supported arguments are provided in this article which are portrayed for understanding the need of incorporating uncertainty quantification in the course curriculum of the core engineering branches such as mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering.
