The Amrita ABB Robotics Lab, the first of its kind by an Indian university, was inaugurated at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham(Amritapuri Campus) on February 25th by Shri. P. K. Kunhalikutty, Minister of Industries and IT, Government of Kerala. The state of the art lab is expected to herald a new era for robotics research and academics in India. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s AMMACHI Labs has collaborated with ABB Robotics for setting up the Robotics Research Lab with two ROS-Industrial robots.

Live-in-Labs, an experiential learning program launched by the Amrita Center for International Programs (ACIP), recently had four students from the ISTOM College of International Agricultural Development, France for an internship in Pala; a village situated in the Kottayam district of Kerala. More than 1,500 women from various parts of India poured into Amritapuri for the two-day event in early May – A Celebration of Empowerment. This was the capstone event of AMMACHI Labs’ Women Empowerment Project, co-funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. The participants shared one thing in common: They were all graduates of AMMACHI Labs’ unique computerized vocational education and life enrichment education courses.
