Dr. Chandrashekar Janakiram, Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health Dentistry, School of Dentistry, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, successfully completed a fellowship in Oral Health Informatics (OHI) and a residency in Dental Public Health from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health, USA.
On July 17, 2019, Amrita School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham heartily welcomed its new batch of students in a unique induction program titled “Swagatham 2019”. The day commenced with the lighting of the lamp by each of the new students and placing it at the feet of the statue of Saraswati Devi, Goddess of knowledge, an age-old tradition symbolizing the absence of darkness and ignorance in the light of knowledge.

An Amrita delegation visited Northern Illinois University near Chicago, USA, on July 11, 2019. The University at Illinois already had hosted Amrita students and will be planning joint engagements including internship opportunities in USA for Amrita students.
Dr. Maanasi Madhavan Menon, Associate Professor at School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham since February 2014, was invited by the Agnivesha Ayurveda Anushtana , Bengaluru, to talk about her article on “Hypertension in Ayurveda” and to share some of her clinical experiences.
Amrita delegation represented by Dr. Maneesha Ramesh, Dean, International Programs and Prof. Karen Sneha Moawad, Program Manager, Amrita Center for International Programs (ACIP), visited University of Illinois, Chicago, USA, on July 11, 2019. Both universities are planning joint programs and exchanges.
A delegation of Amrita professors visited Purdue University on July 11, 2019. The team of professors included Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, Dean PG programs; Dr. Balakrishnan Shankar, Dean, Faculty of Arts; Dr. Shyam Diwakar, Faculty fellow at Amrita Center for International Programs and Prof. Praveen Bist.
A 3D Printing Workshop was conducted for school children of Amrita Vidyalayam Puthiyakavu, Kerala, by the Second Foundation Makerspace team of Ammachi Labs from June 24-26, 2019.

The inauguration of Vidyamritam Extramural lectures (17th Annual Extramural Expert Lecture series) and activities of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was also held on the same day.
