The Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch of Amrita School of Engineering (ASE), Coimbatore, has been adjudged as best CSI Student Branch in India for the fifth consecutive year.

Dr. Liju George, second year MD Resident, Department of Microbiology, Amrita School of Medicine, received first prize for her poster titled “Evaluation of Gene Xpert MTB/RIF Versus Smear Microscopy and Liquid Culture in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Kochi, Kerala” at a Continuing Medical Education (CME) organised by Department of Microbiology, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram & Academy of Clinical Microbiologist on February 27, 2016. She was guided by Dr. Sadia Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, Amrita School of Medicine.
IEEE PES student branch chapter, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, organized an industrial visit to CPRI (Central Power Research Institute), Bengaluru, on March 17, 2016. The visit aimed to foster technical education and motivate young engineers.
IEEE-PES & IAS, Student Branch Chapter, Amrita school of Engineering (ASE), Bengaluru, organized a one day workshop which included a hands-on session on “Real time Simulation for Modern Industrial Applications” on March 2, 2016. The event was coordinated by Dr. K. Deepa, Convener, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE and was organized by IEEE Members.
Students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus, won major prizes in several categories at the OMRG 2016 Robotics Contest held at Singapore on February 21, 2016. Twenty-one teams from different countries contested in the final round.
Anokha 2016, the sixth National level Tech-Fest of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, was held from the 18th to 20th February, 2016 at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus. Anokha 2016 is the first techfest in India with United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) accreditation. The current year’s theme of the fest, “Sustainably Developed Technopolis”, was in line with UN Sustainable Developed Goals (SDG).
A talk on the relevance of IOT (internet of things) was organized by the IEEE PES and IAS Student Branch Chapter on 20th February, 2016, at Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru.
On January 26, 2016, Amrita Sanjeevani, the seva association of Amritapuri campus, conducted a clean-up drive at Taluk Hospital, Karunagapally.
On February 11th-12th 2016, the classrooms and labs of Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT) were deserted– an unusual sighting on most working days. The students, staff, and faculty members were not to be seen in the biotechnology building, but were instead found at the Amritapuri campus sports ground for the annual ASBT Athletic Meet.
