Reverse brain drain: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham among Premier Universities recruiting Abroad

Given the increasing competency levels and stringent eligibility criteria, it has been tough for Indian institutions to find enough teaching talent within the country. So, institutions like  Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham  have been recruiting Indians settled abroad in big numbers. At Amrita a total of 198 professors were recruited from abroad in the past five years. "A team of senior academicians accompany our chancellor Amma for programmes abroad to scout for candidates," said Dr. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor of  Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham & Jawaharlal Nehru University Collaborate on Drug Repurposing Workbench Project

Drug repurposing refers to finding alternate indications to approved drugs, leads in regular development cycles, or even compounds previously discontinued from development. This collaborative project between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeethyam (Bengaluru Campus) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi) aims to develop web-based UI landscapes to provide a data-centric deep mining technique that lets researchers formulate sophisticated drug repositioning hypotheses.

NAAC Sponsored Seminar on Sustainabe Development Held at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

A national seminar titled “Design of Curriculum for Sustainable and Societal Development” was held at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus on 12th and 13th August, 2016. Over 150 higher education experts from all over India participated in the event that was sponsored by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). They discussed and showcased various strategies and success stories that can enable institutions of higher learning to develop a curriculum focused on sustainable development and needs of the planet.
