Under the guidance of its Chancellor, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham provides facilities supporting faculty and staff well-being, including Amrita Daycare Center, which contributes to an inclusive academic environment and children’s development.

Amrita childcare centres in Faridabad and Bengaluru serve urban working families. These facilities support women faculty and staff in balancing careers and childcare, contributing to work-life balance, productivity and retention.

Faridabad Campus Childcare Facility for Faculty and Staff

Inaugurated on February 12, 2025, the childcare facility is located in Room No. 401, NT2 – Bhakthi Bhavan, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Faridabad campus. It operates daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and provides childcare support for faculty and staff with young children.

The facility currently serves 14 children aged six months to six years, including four toddlers and 10 older children, cared for by three trained staff members: one supervisor, one caretaker and one helper. The centre follows established policies covering health, hygiene, meals, enrolment and structured daily routines, with authorised pick-up and drop-off procedures to ensure safety.

Children participate in activities such as storytelling, puzzles, crafts and music, combining care, play and learning. The facility includes safe indoor spaces, child-sized furniture, clean toilets, an on-site kitchen, a TV, refrigerator, kettle, age-appropriate toys and play equipment, and other learning and play materials. Health and safety are supported through regular hygiene practices, first-aid kits and periodic health check-ups.

The facility provides childcare support that helps faculty and staff balance their professional responsibilities with caring for their young children.

Bangalore Campus Childcare Facility

In 2025, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Bengaluru campus provides a secure and hygienic daycare facility for children of working parents. Established in December 2006, the daycare operates on working days from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A dedicated facility serves children from 6 months to 6 years, and the facility provides after-school care as well. Two trained female caretakers provide supervision and individual attention, adapting to each child’s needs.

The facility includes all required infrastructure, including rest areas, cradles and play area, purified water, kitchen equipment and a breastfeeding area. Older children have one hour of outdoor activities each day. Parents can visit at any time and provide feedback. The facility supports working parents by providing safe, convenient childcare within the campus.

“I am Priya Gupta, Associate professor at Amrita school of Business, Bengaluru. I have used Amrita Day care facility for my kid. I find it a very homely place. Children are well taken care of, and parents don’t have to worry about their safety”

“My name is Navya JR, Amrita Bengaluru Department of ME. My first child is now 7 years old. He was taken care of by the university crèche from the age of 7 months. My second child is also now in the crèche. He is 1 year old. The two caretakers are very supportive and do a good job, all the facilities are provided by the institution. We feel at home and can leave our children there without any doubt or hesitation.”

At the semi-rural Ettimadai-Coimbatore and Amritapuri campuses, most families have alternative childcare arrangements, including support from grandparents, therefore crèches previously provided for employees are no longer in operation. At Amritapuri, most families also rely on caregivers at the nearby MA Math, which is also an institution founded by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Chancellor.
