Bio medical waste management and environment safety- The aim of this section will be to help prevent harm to workers, property, the environment and the general public. Topics to be covered under the subject are as follows:

  1. Definition of Biomedical Waste
  2. Waste minimization
  3. BMW – Segregation, collection, transportation, treatment and

disposal (including color coding)

  1. Liquid BMW, Radioactive waste, Metals / Chemicals / Drug waste
  2. BMW Management & methods of disinfection
  3. Modern technology for handling BMW
  4. Use of Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  5. Monitoring & controlling of cross infection (Protective devices)
