Abstract : The present study is focused on the vibration induced dynamic behaviour of cracked beam/structure subjected to travelling mass. The cracked beam /structure is assumed to be having different types of cracks like open transverse , internal and inclined edge cracks. The problem has been formulated with analyti-cal study along with Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The Duhamel Integral approach has been implemented here to solve the governing equation of motion of the travelling mass problem. The dynamic behaviours of the beam/structure subjected to travelling mass with the presence of each type of cracks are investigated individu-ally. The influence of each type crack on the dynamic behaviour of the structure has been discussed. A compari-son study has been also carried out to know the significance of the individual cracks on the vibratory response of the beam. The results obtained from both the approaches are compared and found to be convergent. The entire analysis has been carried out at constant speed and magnitude of the transit mass.
