Amrita School of Pharmacy Professor Visits the University of Iceland

Dr. Sabitha M., Principal and Professor at Amrita School of Pharmacy visited the University of Iceland as part of the prestigious Erasmus+ Training Program during 19th to 24th May 2025. This visit aimed at fostering academic collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mutual learning between the two institutions.

During her time at the University of Iceland, Dr. Sabitha engaged with the Clinical Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy teams. These interactions included in-depth discussions on best practices in clinical and hospital pharmacy, collaborative research opportunities, and comparative insights into pharmacy education and healthcare systems in India and Iceland. The meetings were both productive and insightful, offering a platform for mutual learning and future academic cooperation.

As part of her visit, Dr. Sabitha delivered an invited lecture to the Faculty of Pharmacy, titled “The Indian Pharmacy Landscape: Opportunities, Education, and the Amrita School of Pharmacy Story.” The session highlighted the evolution and current status of pharmacy education in India, emerging opportunities in pharmaceutical sciences, and the significant milestones and academic innovations introduced at Amrita School of Pharmacy.

She also presented a talk to the Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate students of the Department of Chemistry. Her lecture was titled “Navigating the Blood-Brain Barrier: Challenges and Strategic Advances in CNS Drug Delivery.” The visit set the stage for potential research collaborations and student/ faculty exchange initiatives between Amrita School of Pharmacy, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and University of Iceland in the future.
