Abstract : To automate the washing process, determination and measurement of system variables is a challenging task. This paper describes the arrangement of different sensors used to detect the system variables as dirtiness of laundry, the quantity of laundry, humidity, and level inside the drum. Accordingly, the fuzzy controller automatically selects the different controlling variables as washing time, amount of detergent, water level, and drying time. The main contribution of this paper is to present the simulation of system variables obtained through various sensors incorporated in the washing machine design using MATLAB fuzzy logic toolbox.
