Amrita SeRVe Villages Lead Grassroots Action on World Cleanup Day

On World Cleanup Day, villages under the Amrita SeRVe (Self-Reliant Village) program united in a powerful display of community spirit and responsibility, showing how collective action can create lasting change. Field staff, SHG (Self-Help Group) women, villagers, and children joined forces to identify and thoroughly clean the dirtiest spots in their communities.

Highlights from Villages:

Kanti Village, Haryana
Community Organizer, Village Sarpanch Shri Devi Singh Debu Ji, and government sanitation workers actively collaborated with villagers, making the cleanup drive both impactful and inspiring.

Bheeri Village, Uttarakhand
From September 16–22, SHG women and Community Organizer Geeta Devi pledged to clean one locality each day. On World Cleanup Day itself, Sarpanch Shri Dalveer Singh Bhandari, SHG members, and villagers came together to clean the road leading to the village school.

Collective Impact:
Across seven villages, more than 140 women, 10 men, two Sarpanchs, and four Ward Members actively participated. Their involvement highlights the strength of grassroots leadership and the power of community-driven initiatives in fostering cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable villages.

This initiative stands as a testament to how local participation and civic responsibility can spark meaningful transformation, inspiring communities to embrace long-term environmental stewardship.
