Abstract : The prey of adult Hyperechia xylocopiformis (Walker), the carpenter bee (Xylocopa sp.) mimicking robber fly endemic to south India, is reported for the first time and its range of occurrence is extended to Kerala. Ropalidia brevita Das and Gupta (Hymenoptera, Vespidae) was the prey. Literature on the biology of Hyperechia species is reviewed.
