Bio

Dr. Lalith Prakash is a faculty member of Civil Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, with active research in remote sensing applications, earthquake risk assessment, and disaster management. His research focuses on integrating hazard, vulnerability, and exposure modelling for comprehensive disaster risk evaluation, with particular emphasis on flood and earthquake-induced hazards. He has contributed to the development of frameworks for sustainable and resilient infrastructure planning through the application of advanced geospatial and data-driven technologies.

In addition to his work in disaster risk assessment, his current research explores sustainable and high-performance construction materials, including light-transmitting building materials, waste foundry sand composites, and graphene oxide–enhanced concrete. Notably, he is the principal inventor of a patent for a Portable Light Transmittance Testing Apparatus, reflecting his contributions to advancing sustainable construction technologies. These studies aim to enhance material efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and promote the adoption of eco-efficient technologies in modern construction practices. His academic interests also extend to construction project management, emphasizing safety, quality, sustainability and resilience in the built environment.

He has supervised more than 15 postgraduate and undergraduate research projects and has published in high-impact, Scopus-indexed (Q1 and Q2) journals across domains such as disaster risk reduction, urban resilience, and sustainable construction materials.
