The Department of Public Policy at the Amrita School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Faridabad, is uniquely located within Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, the largest multispecialty private hospital in India. As part of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, the Department brings together social science research, public policy, data science & AI, behavioral sciences, health systems, gender equality, sustainable development, and community-centered research. Under the leadership of the Dean Dr. Rao R. Bhavani, holder of India’s only UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, the Department is committed to preparing students to address complex social challenges through rigorous evidence, ethical practice, and compassion-driven action.

Spread across more than 85,000 square feet, the Faridabad campus offers state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, including digital classrooms, computer labs, and access to multidisciplinary environments spanning medicine, technology, public health, social sciences, and policy practice. Its location in the Delhi NCR region provides students with proximity to key institutions, including Government of India offices, United Nations agencies, research organizations, NGOs, and leading policy networks. Anchored in Amrita’s mission of service to society, the Department gives students opportunities to engage directly with communities across Haryana and the wider region, including rural, urban, tribal, and marginalized populations. Through classroom learning, data-driven policy analysis, field immersion, internships, and applied research, students are prepared to translate evidence into meaningful policy solutions for India and the world.
We currently offer an M.Sc program in Social Data Science and Policy with specializations in Science, Technology & Innovation Policy, Gender Policy, Economic Policy, and Health Policy.
