Abstract : Commercialization, encompassing the various key challenges, among them product development and scaling, is one of the major areas that should be in terms of science and technology. Toward this, halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) (clay minerals) obtained from the geological deposits (feldspars), because of their unique tubular structure, are being utilized in many commercial applications. In recent decades, prominent research has been focusing on employing HNTs as potential nanofillers for a variety of commercialization protocols, including ceramics, therapeutics, and catalysis, due to their low-cost and eco-friendly nature. In this chapter, the state-of-the-art reports utilized for ceramics, therapeutics, and catalysis protocols have been emphasized. HNTs used as nanofillers in ceramics (HNT-mullite/carbon, CS/BG/HA/HNT, PLA/MMT/HNT, and metahalloysite/metakaolinite), therapeutics (b-HNTs, HNT@Fe3O4@PPy@DOX and EHEC/PVA/HNTs), and catalysis (Ni/HNTs, Ni/acid-HNTs and Ni/alkali-HNTs, Pd/Rh/HNTs, and Ni- and Pt-containing HNTs) have been highlighted in relation to the commercialization perspectives of HNTs. The significant properties ensuring the materials concerning the commercialization of ceramics (mechanical properties, electrical conductivity, thermal properties, and stability), therapeutics (biocompatibility), and catalysis (conversion rate, turnover number, and turnover frequency) have been discussed. Furthermore, the role of HNT composites in these commercialization perspectives has been extensively discussed. Looking for a way forward, HNT composites serve as major role players in the emerging trends of product development, scaling, cost-effectiveness, consumer-friendly, and eco-compatible in disposal for commercialization perspectives.
