About the Project

One of the foremost challenges in present-day pharmacology and medicine is targeted delivery of drugs. In order to achieve the highest impact of a certain drug or therapeutic agent on living systems is through appropriate delivery vehicles. Moreover, that vehicle should protect drug molecules from degradation and should deliver at the desired target. Macrocyclic receptors, for instance cucurbiturils (CBs), calixarenes (CXs), and cyclodextrins (CDs) have received immense interest due to their capability to encapsulate drug molecules non-covalently and further to release them by suitable stimuli. These supramolecular systems can be utilized to develop fluorescent sensors for different analytes. These systems have potential applications in various fields such as dye lasers, fluorescence imaging, detection of trace elements, information storage, and bioassays
