Bio

Dr. Dayana Das serves as the Vice Principal and Head of School, as well as Head of the Department of Commerce & Management at Amrita School of Arts, Humanities & Commerce, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri.

Dr. Das began her academic career in 2007 when she was recognized as the Best Teaching Performer at Amrita School of Arts & Sciences, Amritapuri. Following the completion of her PhD from the University, she has held numerous significant administrative positions, including Head of the Department, Head of the BBA Online Program, Chairman of the Board of Studies (BBA Online Program), PGP Chair, and Research Head for the School, among other capacities and roles within the University.

As a researcher with a focus on sustainability, Dr. Das served as the Principal Investigator for the funded research project aligned with Quality Education (SDG 4) awarded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research for 2024-2025. This extensive project covered over 25 Government Higher Secondary Schools across 9 districts in Kerala with the highest number of cases of sexual offenses, surveying 5,500 school children on their awareness of the POCSO ACT, 2012. Additionally, she has authored and co-authored research articles in disciplines aligned with Quality Education and Sustainable Development Goals. In recognition of her impactful work in education, she was recognised with the Outstanding Women Empowerment Profile award from Venus Foundations, India, in 2023.

As an academician and administrator, Dr. Das has chaired Management and Technical Sessions at various national, international conferences and delivered sessions for invited talks. Driven by a strong sense of social responsibility, Dr. Das has offered counselling sessions at rehabilitation centers for children and women affected by the 2004 Tsunami in Kerala in the aftermath of the disaster, alongside conducting empowerment sessions on financial literacy for Self Help Groups supporting rural women contributing to their economic independence and security.
