Bio

Currently serving as Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in the Department of Mass Communication, School of Arts, Humanities and Commerce, and as Head – Student Welfare at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, Aswathi K. B. is a strategic academic leader and media professional with over 17 years of multidisciplinary experience across media, public relations, academia, and institutional administration.

She brings proven expertise in student engagement, academic leadership, media strategy, and large-scale event management, and is widely recognized for driving high-impact initiatives and leading university-wide programs. A passionate communicator, she has deep domain knowledge in journalism, public relations, teaching, event management, and institutional development, with a strong commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

Before transitioning to academia, she worked as a Senior Sub-Editor and Program Producer at Reporter Channel, where she contributed to the entertainment desk, lent her voice to news segments, and produced several programs.

She began her career in journalism in 2007 with Mathrubhumi, writing under the pen name Aswathikrishna. During her tenure, she contributed extensively to film journalism, publishing exclusive features and conducting interviews with prominent film personalities including Resul Pookutty, A. R. Rahman, Ranbir Kapoor, Allu Arjun, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suriya,Ranbir Kapoor, Puneeth Rajkumar, and Tamannaah etc.,.

In recognition of her contributions to film journalism, she received several prestigious awards between 2009 and 2010, including the A. T. Ummer Award, JCI Foundation Award, MTV Award, and Inspire Award.

She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the area of Cinema and Politics at the Department of Visual Media and Communication, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus. Since 2024, she has been serving as the University-level Coordinator for the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) Cultural Fest at both zonal and national levels. She has also been nominated as the Ambassador for the Viksit Bharat Youth Connect Program at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus.
