Bio

Dr. Lakshmi Mohandas is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the School of Computing at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus. She previously served as Principal at the School of Artificial Intelligence, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Faridabad Campus.

Prior to this, she was the Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS) at a premier institute affiliated with the University of Mumbai. In this role, she was instrumental in leading academic initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary research, developing innovative curricula, and promoting emerging technologies in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Her research interests encompass Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), Small Language Models (SLMs), Generative AI, Knowledge Graphs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Natural Language Processing, Graph Machine Learning, Multimodal AI, and AI for Healthcare and Biomedical Applications.

Research Interest

Dr. Lakshmi Mohandas research interests broadly encompass Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with a focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), Small Language Models (SLMs), Generative AI, Foundation Models, Knowledge Graphs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Graph Machine Learning, Multimodal AI, and Explainable AI.

Particularly interested in developing knowledge-driven and trustworthy AI systems that integrate structured and unstructured data. Her research also extends to AI for healthcare and biomedical applications, including Clinical NLP, multi-omics data analytics, AI-driven biomarker discovery, and intelligent healthcare systems.
