Bio

Dr. Soumik Das is an Assistant Professor at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, who holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics (2022) and an MSc in Mathematics and Computing (2017), both earned from the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad. His doctoral research, conducted under the guidance of Prof. Shishir Gupta, focused on the characteristics of SH-wave propagation and induced stresses in fractured porous structures under moving disturbances and thermal environments. Specializing in wave propagation, nonlocal elasticity, and piezo-thermo-elastic mediums, Dr. Das has established a significant research footprint with over 50 publications in reputed Q1/Q2 SCI journals. He also serves as a reviewer in various reputed SCI journals. His professional journey includes experience as a Control Research Engineer at Raphe mPhibr Pvt. Ltd. prior to his current academic role, and his contributions to the field were recognized with the Best Researcher Award from SHEN in 2020 and AIRA in 2024. Though his primary focus remains on advanced computational modeling and theoretical mechanics, his academic background is rooted in a BSc (Hons.) in Mathematics from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College. He has been invited as a resource person for invited talks and serves as a doctoral committee member in several universities such as Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Christ University, Delhi, etc. Dr. Das has established his research collaborations worldwide. To name a few, his national collaborations include premier institutions, viz., IIT Dhanbad, VNIT Nagpur, VIT Vellore, CHRIST University, Sister Nivedita University and international collaborations include King Saud University, Saudi Arab, Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, Turkey, Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania, Hampton University, USA, Iowa State University, USA, Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania, etc. He is also leading the TAG titled “Mathematical Modeling of Wave Propagation in Smart Materials” which consists a total of 5 members. Currently, he is guiding three research scholars in the Department of Sciences. He has overall 3.5 years of teaching experience and 10 years of research experience.
