The Graduation Ceremony of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, was celebrated on 10th September, 2017, at Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Mr. M. Rajeevan, Secretary, Ministry of Health Sciences and Mr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister, were the Chief Guests of the event. The General Secretary of the Math, Swami Purnamritananda Puri, presided over the event. Dr. Bipin Nair, Dean, Amrita School of Biotechnology, gave the inaugural speech. Dr. P. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh, Dean for Amrita Center for International Programs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, Dean of PG Programs, Dr. V. S. Somanath, Dean, School of Business, Dr. Balakrishnan Shankar, Associate Dean, School of Engineering, Amritapuri, Dr. Jyothi S. N., Principal, School of Engineering, and Dr. V. M. Nandakumaran, Principal, School of Arts and Sciences, Amritapuri, also attended the event.
A total of 1436 students from the School of Engineering, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Ayurveda, School of Biotechnology and School of Business graduated on this day. The event began with a procession by students dressed in traditional Kerala attire, from the college to the Math.
Mr. M. Rajeevan, in his speech, mentioned that gaining knowledge is a continuous process and getting in the right direction is very important for the students. Mr. Satheesh Reddy commented that India was way ahead in terms of the number of youth in the total world population and in the field of scientific and space research, India is able to reach far ahead when compared with other countries.
