Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Becomes First Indian Member of THE World 100 Reputation Network

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has become the first Indian university to join the Times Higher Education (THE) World 100 Reputation Network, marking a significant addition to the global community of leading universities and reputation professionals.

The THE World 100 Reputation Network brings together communications, brand and reputation leaders from leading universities across the world to exchange experiences, insights and best practices. Members also come together annually at the W100 Annual Conference to discuss emerging trends and challenges in university reputation and communications.

Welcoming Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham to the network, Phil Baty, Chief Global Affairs Officer and COO, Times Higher Education, described the development as “another exciting landmark for India” and welcomed Amrita to the World 100 community.

The membership comes at a time when Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is gaining increasing global recognition for its contributions to education, research, sustainability and societal impact. In the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, the university was ranked 37th globally.

Focus on Earning Trust Through Societal Impact

At the W100 Annual Conference held at the University of Vienna, Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, participated in a session on “Earning Trust Through Societal Impact.”

Hosted by Phil Baty, the discussion also featured Professor Ghassan Aouad of Abu Dhabi University, a pioneering member and Senior Advisor to the W100 network.

The session examined how universities can place societal needs at the heart of their missions and build lasting public trust through meaningful and measurable impact. Discussions also focused on the role of communications and reputation teams in presenting a university’s contributions to society authentically, rather than as mere self-promotion.

Perspectives from India and the Middle East added to the discussion on how universities can respond to changing societal expectations and strengthen their relationship with the communities they serve.

Amrita’s approach to education is rooted in the belief that knowledge should contribute to the welfare of society. As Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has said, “When values and knowledge become one, there can be no more powerful instrument for the welfare of humankind.”

Representing Amrita at the World 100 engagement were Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, Pro Vice Chancellor; Prof. Manoj P., Campus Director, Bengaluru and Dean & HoS, School of Business, Bengaluru; and Prof. Raghu Raman, Dean, Amrita School of Business and Director, Center for Advancing Rankings Excellence.

Amrita’s membership in the THE World 100 Reputation Network provides an opportunity for the university to engage with leading global institutions and reputation professionals, while contributing its perspectives and experiences in the areas of education, research, sustainability and societal impact.
