Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham visited the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, for discussions aimed at exploring opportunities for research and academic collaboration in areas of shared global significance.
The Amrita delegation was led by Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham; Dean, School for Sustainable Futures; Dean, International Programs; and UNESCO Chair on Experiential Learning for Sustainable Innovation & Development. She was accompanied by Ms. Sindhu Manoj, Associate Director, International Programs, and Mr. Nitin Kumar, Program Manager, Amrita Centre for Wireless Networks and Applications.
During the visit, the delegation held discussions with Prof. Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo, on potential areas of cooperation between the two institutions. Dr. Iroja Caldera, Director, International Office, University of Colombo, also participated in the discussions.
The meeting explored opportunities for collaboration in key areas including climate change resilience, entrepreneurship, disaster risk management, and sustainability. The discussions highlighted the complementary strengths of the two universities and the potential for interdisciplinary research and academic initiatives addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges.
Both institutions expressed mutual interest in taking the discussions forward through a Letter of Intent (LoI), which would provide a framework for identifying and developing potential areas of research, academic exchange, and institutional collaboration.
