The Chit & Chat Series 101, organised by Mano Layam – Centre for Wellbeing in collaboration with the School of Social and Behavioural Science, provided students with a safe and open platform to explore gender harmony, respect and sensitivity. A total number of 19 participants were present for the programme. The programme aimed to promote empathy, challenge gender stereotypes and encourage more inclusive and respectful interpersonal practices.
The interactive session included an icebreaker, facilitated discussions on gender identity, stereotypes, respectful communication, consent and boundaries, along with scenario-based group activities, reflection exercises and an open forum. These activities encouraged students to engage with different perspectives and examine how everyday attitudes and behaviours can influence interpersonal relationships.
The discussion-based format enabled students to reflect on their own perceptions and biases while developing a deeper understanding of empathy, inclusion and respectful communication. Students actively participated in the activities and shared their perspectives in a non-judgmental environment.
The programme strengthened students’ awareness of gender sensitivity and inclusive communication while encouraging them to build healthier and more respectful interactions. It also highlighted the importance of empathy, mutual respect and sensitivity in creating a supportive and inclusive campus community.
