On 31st of January, 2022, an online induction programme for Unit I of NSS and live webinar on sustainable energy development was conducted. The meeting was to acknowledge the new unit, its office bearers and members and to introduce them to the ventures of NSS. The gathering was also a platform for an interactive session with a professional who discussed on the role of youth in sustainable development to meet the energy needs of rural India.

Around 140 people including students from all NSS units and faculty members attended the program. All NSS program officers, NSS program coordinator and student coordinators were present.

The formal function began with a prayer recited by Kavya. G from 2nd year Integrated MSc. Chemistry Dept.

Followed by a welcome address by Devika Biju from 2nd year Integrated MSc. Chemistry Dept.

After that the NSS programme coordinator Dr. D Venkataraman addressed the gathering and introduced NSS and the campaigns and initiatives undertaken by the association to the new unit. A summary of the previously organized events was also presented.

Followed by that, Chairperson of EEE Dept. Dr. Balamurugan. S. officially inducted the volunteers of NSS unit I.

Next, the guest speaker, Sri. Er. Karthikakaruppu, Director of Profenaa Technologies, presented an informative session on “The Role of Youngsters in Sustainable Energy Development to Meet Energy Needs of Rural India”.

He emphasised on the importance of adopting sustainable developmental methods to ensure a secure future for the country.

In the end, the meeting participants had the opportunity to interact, ask questions and give their own suggestions and views on various aspects.

Finally, Vote of thanks was delivered by the Programme Officer of Unit I, Dr. Ilango. K.
