A Month of Enterprise, Skills & Market Linkages
During July 2026, the WE Project Store facilitated customized artisan orders, institutional event orders, skill development, AI literacy and market-oriented product development. These activities created opportunities for women artisans to strengthen production capacity, develop new skills and connect their handcrafted work with wider markets.

Customized Order: Embroidered Wedding Gift Pouches & Bags
SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth
The WE Project Store received a customized order from client Vidya for embroidered pouches and embroidered bags to be used as wedding gifts. Bincy Chechi commenced the production process by preparing the pouch patterns and cutting the fabric according to the required measurements, marking the initial stage of production for the customized order.

Institutional Order: 400 Printed Tote Bags for ISHNR Conference

The WE Project Store facilitated an order for 400 blue printed tote bags for the 7th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Head and Neck Radiology (ISHNR), scheduled for July 16–18, 2026, at Christian Medical College, Vellore. The order was successfully executed by the Sivasakthi Stitching Unit, Kattilkadav. All 400 bags were completed and delivered on 7 July 2026.

Skill Development: Needlepoint Embroidery Skill Demonstration
SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth
Needlepoint embroidery was taught to Sunitha ji of Sarainorrudinpur, one of the village coordinators from Uttar Pradesh, as sample work for Smathers and Branson, an American company.
The activity focused on discussing and demonstrating needlepoint embroidery techniques and developing samples aligned with the requirements.

Institutional Order: 40 Laptop Bags for EoDR&D Consultative Meeting
SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure
An order was received for the Consultative Meeting on Ease of Doing Research and Development (EoDR&D) Assessment Framework for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), co-hosted by NITI Aayog and Amrita.
The all-day event brought together representatives from HEIs, scientific ministries and departments, national agencies and other stakeholders to deliberate on the proposed EoDR&D Assessment Framework, including its parameters, scoring mechanism and implementation modalities.
For the dignitaries, 40 simple yet attractive laptop bags were ordered along with paper tags detailing the artisans who made them.
The order was facilitated by the WE Store Project and executed by the Artisans of Amrit Amritasree SHG group of Palwalli Village, Faridabad, Haryana.

AI Literacy: Hands-on AI Literacy Session for Transgender Beauticians
SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
The WE Store facilitated a hands-on AI literacy session for Satrangi Foundation transgender beauticians. The workshop aimed to build practical and usable outcomes for communication, promotion and confidence with everyday AI tools.
The sessions were phone-first, jargon-free and anchored in the participants’ own trade. The artisans learned how to use ChatGPT to create visiting cards, rate cards and promotional photos.

Exhibition: WE STORE at Work Meets Workout

The WE STORE exhibited at Work Meets Workout, an AYUDH International Networking Event that brought together students, young professionals, entrepreneurs and inspiring speakers at the Amritapuri Amrita University campus.
The WE STORE stall showcased products made by women artisans trained under CWEGE and AMMACHI Labs skill training initiatives.

Customized Order: 200 Crochet Sunflower Keychains
SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth
An order was received for 200 crochet sunflower keychains to be used as wedding guest gifts.
The order was executed by Bincy Chechi and Sreeshma Chechi, highlighting the artisans’ skills in producing handcrafted customized products for special occasions. The completed order was delivered on 25 July 2026.

Customized Order: Design Consultation for Embroidered Wedding Gifts
SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth
For the customized embroidered pouches and bags ordered by client Vidya, the WE Store team visited Jyothi Chechi’s house to discuss the design requirements, explain the pouch specifications and guide her on the placement and execution of the embroidery work.
The team ensured that the artisan clearly understood the customization details before commencing production.

Production Support: Strengthening Artisan Production Capacity

As artisan Bincy forays into a new terrain, the WE STORE team supported her by strengthening production capacity through sourcing high-quality yarn and identifying accurate colour shades to meet the customer’s specifications.
This support helped ensure consistency and quality in the final handcrafted products while enabling the artisan to take on new product requirements.
Featured Project: From Artisan Skills to Market-Ready Products
The 400 blue printed tote-bag order demonstrated the capacity of the WE Project Store and its artisan network to execute a large institutional requirement within a defined timeline.
The Sivasakthi Stitching Unit, Kattilkadav, managed the production and successfully completed all 400 bags for delivery on 7 July 2026.
Alongside institutional production, the month also highlighted customized wedding gifts, crochet products, embroidery development and practical AI literacy, strengthening the link between artisan skills, innovation and market opportunities.

The activities during the reporting period contributed to selected Sustainable Development Goals through women’s livelihoods, skills, market access, inclusion, innovation and responsible production.
The July 2026 activities reflect the WE Project Store’s continued commitment to women’s empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, skill development, innovation and market-linked community enterprises.
